Vedyoharrapa

The last battle for control of Veydoharrapa was decided two years ago in the Valley of Arapa. The Witch King and Queen personally led their fey and otherworldly Black Banner forces against the Holy Elected Raja, Sayagi II, and his Army of Ma’an. The Raja’s Battle Princes, the Nawab, were caught off guard by the sheer magnitude of magical power the Fey King and Queen could summon. Their ritual caused the Gangi river to flood and a great rift to appear, raising the whole Western side of the realm and splitting the nation in two geographically.

During the Grand Curse, Sayagi II’s forces were nearly wiped out. Those who survived routed. The Raja himself is missing and presumed dead. However, all is not lost; the Holy Elected Rani Jyoti has been actively leading a guerilla campaign from the (now) lower elevated Eastern portion of the nation. The geographical damage caused by the Grand Curse has inadvertently caused many spirits to awaken. These spirits, while not siding with Jyoti and her troops, have for the most part at least been antagonistic to the Witch King and Queen’s endeavors.

The ecological damage caused by the rift has forced many of the Veydoharrapan to flee. Food is scarce, water is frequently tainted, and bands of fey raiders criss cross the land looking for survivors. In addition, the land West of the Rift has been changing. Strange plants with thorns and poisons have been been taking over. The Midnight Palace, home of the Witch King and Queen, now sits atop a mountain of brambles overlooking the Rift. Its black form was summoned from below and its spires and spikes are decorated by the bodies of the dissidents. The Lord and Lady of Thorns earned their names through deeds.
